Day 1
Pick up from Chiang Mai International Airport and transfer to hotel or have lunch before going on tours depending on the time of arrival. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch drive up to the famous Doi Suthep temple then return to the hotel. Enjoy the evening with Kantoke Dinner, a traditional Northern Thai dinner where you are served on a short small table while you sit at floor level. There will be Traditional Thai dancing and hill tribe dances as you have your dinner.
Day 2
Depart from your hotel in the morning to Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Museum where you’ll be able to get an insight of both modern and yesteryears Chiang Mai city. Visit Wat Chedi Luang temple, which consist of an impressive pagoda, built in 1401 A.D. and was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545 and this temple also houses the city foundation pillar. Moreover, the most venerated Emerald Buddha now in Bangkok was enshrined in this pagoda for over 80 years. Finally, enjoy the rest of the afternoon touring the world famous handicraft center to see silverware making and Thai silk weaving or other handicraft works of your interest. Return to the hotel.
Day 3
Start out the tour to the mountain north of the city to see elephants in their natural habitat. Spend the morning at Mae Sa Elephant Camp to see the gigantic creatures enjoy their daily bath before the show of their impressive talents and painting skill. Make a stop over at an orchid farm. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant before continuing with the tour to Chiang Rai, the Northern most part of Thailand and also the first Lanna(Land of million rice field) Kingdom capital. Stop at tribal village to see various hill tribe people consisting of Akha, Lahu, Padong long neck-big ears tribe. Check in at Chiang Rai hotel. Over night in Chiang Rai.
Day 4
First on this tour you will leave the hotel for 40 minutes of Mae Kok River boat trip by long-tail boat to the KarenHilltribeVillageRuammitVillage. The Mae Kok River, 130km long, running through the heart of Chiang Rai, is said to be one of the most beautiful and unspoiled rivers of the world. It flows gently along jungle banks and towering mountain cliffs. Along its route lie several hilltribes and jungle-tribes of Chiang Rai.
Next, continue the tour to the world famous Golden Triangle where it once used to be a heavily opium trading place as well as poppy plantation and opium production in the mountainous area along the borders between Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. You will also see the mighty MekongRiver. Visit the opium museum to understand the history of both opium dating back to 5,000 years and the opium trade-production at the Golden Triangle. The tour wouldn’t have completed without a long-tail boat cruise at the MekongRiver and a trip to a small island of Don Sao in Laos. Finally, proceed to the bustling Thai-Myanmar border town of Mae Sai where you will see people from both country crossing the border for trading purposes. Return to Chiang Rai city and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5
Free at your own leisure before transferring you to Chiang Rai Airport or drive back to Chiang Mai international Airport.
